Laura Cascardi :: Herbalist

This past summer I spent a handful of educational days with Laura Cascardi, founder and director of Equinox Center of Herbal Studies in Fort Collins, Colorado. A certified herbalist with over 20 years of experience, Laura offers private consultations, botany workshops, foraging walks, as well as a comprehensive herbal studies program for people wishing to learn more about the world of botany, herbal medicine making, essential oils, and Ayurveda.

I peeked in on some of Laura’s classroom lessons (outdoors of course) and joined her and a group of students in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains during their field work. They searched for and identified plants, made aspirin from the tree bark, and discussed the numerous healing powers found in nature. Laura sent me off with a homemade tea blend of rose and cardamom, along with a healthy dose of plant education and appreciation.
